The total area of the school is 117 acres which is being utilized for various farm activities and building infrastructure.

The major establishments are Agrometeorological observatory, orchard, agroforestry block, crop cafeteria, seed production block and student farm.

Agrometeorological observatory

Agrometeorological observatory is a place where all the instruments are maintained to observe and record different weather elements/parameters at stipulated time interval. In our Agriculture farm we are also having B-type agrometeorological observatory, where various instruments are maintained. Which facilitates to measure maximum & minimum air temperature, soil temperature, wind direction, wind speed, sunshine duration, rainfall and evaporation rate etc.

Orchard

Orchard is established in an area of 6 acres with around 550 saplings of various fruit crops. The planting was done in monsoon 2022. Majority of the planting was done by the students. Alongside planting of Agro-Forestry saplings was also taken up in about 15-acre land.

Agroforestry

With 169 plants, we have established three major types of agroforestry systems in our college

farm:

  • Agrisilviculture: Trees with annual or perennial agricultural crops
  • Silvihorticulture: Trees with fruit trees
  • Silvipastoral: Tress with grasses for maintaining cattle
  • Silvisericulture: Sericulture on trees

Crop cafeteria

Crop cafeteria is the demonstration of identified efficient crops and varieties in an agrometeorological region offering an opportunity to the farmer to choose a suitable crop and variety. In our Agriculture farm crop cafeteria is developed every year in kharif and rabi season. Crop cafeteria facilitates to conduct student’s practical classes for identification of crop, study of morphological description of crops and to check the suitability and performance of a various crops & their different varieties in that particular region. Students can improve their skill by engaging themselves in various operations such as field preparation, layout, seed treatment, sowing, intercultultural operations, nutrient management, water management, weed management, disease & pest management, harvesting, threshing, post-harvest care and yield estimation, and they can learn real agriculture and can become perfect agriculturist.

Seed production

College of Agriculture (CoA) has taken an initiative for seed production of improved varieties in collaboration with Nirmal Seeds Pvt. Ltd. and MAHABEEJ at our agriculture farm. The aim of this program is to understand the requirements of farmers, challenges in the commercial seed production and to make available the quality seeds to farmers. This is also providing an opportunity for students to get a hands on and get industry ready. The seed production program involves the multiplication of foundations seeds of improved varieties of pigeon pea, black gram, green gram and soybean of from MAHABEEJ and Nirmal Seeds Pvt. Ltd. in 40 acres of land.
